2week of school

its a monday... lecture commence for one week... 4 tutorials this week...

My timetable is heavy on monday, relax on tuesday, wed and thursday are moderately occupied. Friday off...

3a.m...Finally, i completed the second tutorial. I have been trying to get use to my tutorials especially statistic B. My tutors and lecturer, peers, they all expect me to remember Hypothesis testing which i have long forgotten! I am not defending myself but its been 2years without study and 4-5years since i have done any statistic questions. Though, i had a credit for statistic A, i was lagging behind...but i had to go on ...

8pm... Finally, i manage to stay awake in a lecture. I had been invited to the college dinner -welcome for new resident. It was held at 6pm. I missed it... the careless me even had prepared(ironed clothes as formal wear required) for it the previous night. Well, i ended up eating cup noodles in my room. The cup noodle didn't taste too bad surprisingly!

4pm... I was in a copying service shop on campus. As books and studying materials can be unimaginably pricey, folks are busy photocopying textbooks which can be as thick as 800pages.

I can smell ink, the sound produced by photo-machines and tension going on... school wasn't that laid back after all... Ironically, most customers are Asians.

2pm... i met Lebo... she's an African PhD student in Statistics, also one of the tutors. She had been shocked by my ignorance and 'impair' in statistics. I manage to finish 3 questions after a grueling 2hr session. I think i got blacklisted. But she did comment that Singapore is a nice and clean place...i presume she didn't 'hate' me after all...

1150am... Attended a corporate finance lecture by Jason Hall. Bearing the same name, 2 people are from different world. He is a lecturer, infamous for setting tough questions in exam, causing ab it of panicky situation within the cohort each time he do his stunt. Yet, I am just a blur and simple minded guy!

A typical school day that starts with almost a sumptuous breakfast...

My weekend is great, i got drunk all thanks to Fabien aka Singaporean leader... I shall not go into details until next time we meet!

Please dont worry Dad , Mum... ...

My Room

Its a lot of emotions involved when you knew the room you had been living in is going to change. You then start to form certain expectation of that room. To the extent of how well its furnished. Is the wall even painted? Does it have a view? My previous room did have a TV with SCV installed... Oh well, just like what Fabian(hostel mate) likes to tease: "you did'nt came here to study?"

By now, the expectation stage has gone. After i have seen many other rooms, mine's not that bad afterall. But i will continue to make my little space like home... I have a neighbour from Serbia & Montenegro whom his room had been quite nicely done up. He has a really Serb's flag covering almost one side. It really add colours...life to his room. Too bad i don't have a picture of that!

My New Life

Its the third time that i fly alone. Do people actually get use to that? To some it might be normal, to me i guess its some kinda achievement. Probably it would be normal in future...

7hrs yet no jet lag. Cool! Folks from new york actually suffer upto a week of jet-lag like what the driver said. Well, as much as the sadness that i felt from homesick, i am still glad to know that i am quite near home.
I was really excited as i stepped out of the airport and the cold air was felt on myface. It was then 3 degree celcius... my ignorance of Brisbane's winter made me shiver violently as i had been only wearing a long sleeve shirt. Thank god i did'nt catch a cold.

UQ is really quiet on weekends...so is my hostel...Its called Union College! In this college you really get to meet many international students. The majorities are formed up by the USA and locals. On my floor there is a guy from Serbia & Montenegro. I also had a friends from Maruitius and 2 Kenyian friends. They were the only two kenyian students in UQ. But when i am home-sick... i just knock on another fellow singaporean's room. And the language is singlish!

Now, I will just end my writing with some of the pictures i have taken in school, on this very nice lake in UQ...
